Order placed for over 150 units from Effenco by Derichebourg Environnement

Montreal, December 8, 2020 – Montreal-based Développement Effenco Inc. (“Effenco”), specialized in designing electrical systems for heavy-duty vocational vehicles, and Derichebourg Environnement, operating in 9 countries, announce the conclusion of an agreement that will lead to the electrification of 157 vehicles mainly on the Derichebourg Environnement fleet in Paris and Montréal.

Once again, Derichebourg Environnement chose Effenco’s most recent electric propulsion solution technology to be its technological partner. As part of this 3-year agreement, 120 vehicles will be equipped in France, in addition to 37 systems for new contracts won by Derichebourg Canada in Montreal.

This agreement strengthens the international presence of Effenco, a company that already exports products to 10 countries around the world. Their green and innovative solutions help companies like Derichebourg Environnement stand out in calls for tenders in Europe, where factors beyond the lowest bidder rule come into play when contracts are awarded. Green technologies are also awarded points, which facilitates the implementation of practices that support a sustainable development approach.

With their strong momentum and having worked together for several years, the two companies are further strengthening their partnership with this agreement by taking another step towards reducing greenhouse gas emissions and the energy costs of heavy vocational vehicles.

About Derichebourg Canada Environnement

Derichebourg Environnement has been established in Canada since 2015 through its subsidiary Derichebourg Canada Environnement. In 2020, the Canadian subsidiary of Derichebourg Environnement offers collection services to more than 1.6 million citizens in the Greater Montreal area (Montreal [5 boroughs], Brossard, Longueuil, Laval, Town of Mount Royal, Montreal East, Bois-des-Filion) and in Outaouais (Gatineau). To carry out its operations, Derichebourg Canada Environment currently employs more than 200 people in Quebec and has a fleet of 107 heavy vehicles specializing in collection operations.

The development of Derichebourg Canada Environnement has been part of a sustainable and local development approach from the outset. This approach gave birth to an ambitious partnership with the Montreal company Effenco and to the installation of 58 first-generation hybrid electric systems between 2016 and 2018. The renewal and winning of new contracts in the Montreal area in 2020 led to the integration of 21 new collection vehicles into our fleet and the consolidation of our partnership with Effenco with the signing of an agreement for the installation of 37 second generation Effenco hybrid systems. As a result, Derichebourg Canada Environnement is pursuing its initial ambition of providing an environmentally friendly service while integrating into the local economic fabric.
